William O. Stanhouse 

William O. Stanhouse, age 76, of Old DuQuoin, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 3:15 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, DuQuoin, IL. 

William was born on September 7, 1931 in DuQuoin, IL, a son to Edward P. and Martha Katie (Plumlee) Stanhouse. On December 11, 1948, he married Opal Arendell of Tamaroa, IL in Murphysboro, IL and she survives. In his lifetime, he had worked at DuQuoin Packing Company for 12 years and then for the Illinois Department of Conservation serving for 29 years as a conservation police officer, and as a boating and hunter safety instructor. He was a member of First Christian Church of DuQuoin, DuQuoin Masonic Lodge #234, Perry County Shrine, Ainad Temple, Scottish Rite, Illinois Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police, I.O.O.F., and a former Democratic Precinct Committeeman. 

Survivors include his wife: Opal Stanhouse of DuQuoin, IL, two sons: William O. (Cheryl) Stanhouse, Jr. of New-Bern, NC, and Col. Edward Mark (Jackie) Stanhouse of the U.S.A.F. in Miamisburg, OH, two daughters: Kathy I. (Mike) Neal of Columbia, IL, and Brenda Stanhouse (Jeff Hammel) of Belleville, IL, ten grandchildren: Darren William (Jayne) Stanhouse of Washington D.C., Rebecca J. (Mark) Yetso of Thomasville, N.C., Emily M., Hanna L., and Mallory K. Stanhouse, all of Miamisburg, OH, John Michael (Renee) Neal, Jr. of Chester, IL, C. Elizabethe (Russ) Rader of Chester, IL, Laura K. Neal of Columbia, IL, and Samantha S. and Max S. Hammel, both of Belleville, IL,  three sisters: Ruth Degler of DuQuoin, IL, Frances (Charles) Hawkins of Sparta, IL, and Cecil (Joe) Szczeblewski of DuQuoin, IL, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Edward P. Stanhouse, five sisters: Dorothy Stanhouse in infancy, Gertrude Braml, Lorraine Sisney, Bobbie Engert, and Lettie Gregory. 

Funeral services will be held in Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John Lewis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL. 

Masonic Services will be held Tuesday 7 p.m.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. 

Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or First Christian Church of DuQuoin.
